Development Projects – Rundle Manor
Rundle Manor Redevelopment
The Rundle Manor redevelopment project in Calgary is a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the city’s affordable housing infrastructure. This project involves the transformation of the old Rundle Manor residential complex into a new, modern 135-unit affordable housing facility. The redevelopment is designed to provide a range of housing options for individuals and families living on lower and median incomes, featuring a mix of one, two, three, and four-bedroom homes. Notably, 22 per cent of these units will offer barrier-free access to accommodate diverse needs.
With construction well underway, the project is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2025. It benefits from substantial support from the City of Calgary, underlining a strong collaborative effort across various levels of government and the community to address the housing needs in northeast Calgary.
The new Rundle Manor, located at 4225 26 Avenue N.E., is a preferred housing location with proximity to essential community amenities such as groceries, transit, schools, parks, and recreational areas. This alignment with the city’s criteria to ensure that new developments are well-integrated into their neighborhoods, providing residents with convenient access to local services and enhancing their quality of life, was a key contributor to the decision to redevelop new affordable housing on this site.
This project is not just about providing housing but is part of a broader strategy by The City of Calgary to ensure all citizens have access to safe, affordable, and stable housing solutions that contribute to the overall resilience and inclusivity of the community. Once completed, Rundle Manor will play a crucial role in Calgary Housing’s continuing transition to a mixed-market rental model, offering homes with varying affordability rates to meet the diverse needs of those seeking affordable housing options.
